KCC is a revolving credit facility for farmers from banks, RRBs, and cooperative banks. It covers short-term credit needs for crop cultivation, post-harvest expenses, allied activities, and non-farm income. The credit limit is typically up to ₹3 lakh at concessional interest rates.
Base interest rate: 7% p.a. With the Central Government's Interest Subvention Scheme, effective interest rate is 4% p.a. for loans up to ₹3 lakh if repaid on time. Above ₹3 lakh, regular bank interest rates apply.
All farmers — individual, joint borrowers, tenant farmers, oral lessees, sharecroppers, SHGs or JLGs of farmers — are eligible. The credit limit is linked to the scale of finance for the crops cultivated.
