What is a Soil Health Card?

A Soil Health Card (SHC) is a printed report card that gives you the status of 12 soil nutrients in your land: N, P, K (macro), S (secondary), and Zn, Fe, Cu, Mn, B (micro), plus pH and organic carbon. It includes crop-specific fertilizer recommendations.

How Soil Testing Works

Government officials collect soil samples from your field (one per 2.5 acres). Samples are tested at soil testing labs. Results are available online and as a printed card within 30 days.

Using the Recommendations

The card recommends the exact quantity of urea, DAP, MOP, zinc sulphate, etc., for each crop in your rotation. Farmers who follow SHC recommendations save ₹1,500–₹4,000/acre on fertilizers annually while maintaining or improving yield.

How to Get Your Soil Health Card

Contact your local agriculture extension officer or Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). Register at soilhealth.dac.gov.in. KrishiPulse app integrates your SHC data into crop planning — AI recommendations auto-adjust based on your soil profile.
