Tomato Leaf Curl Virus (begomovirus) — transmitted by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci)
Upward curling and cupping of leaves. Stunted growth. Yellowing of leaf margins. Severely infected plants produce few or no fruits.
Use virus-resistant varieties (Arka Rakshak, Arka Samrat). Control whitefly population with reflective mulch and yellow sticky traps. Avoid planting near infected fields. Rogue out infected plants early.
No cure once infected — remove and destroy infected plants. Control vector whitefly with imidacloprid (0.5 ml/L) or thiamethoxam (0.2g/L). Alternate insecticides to manage resistance.
